Dr. Jody McMurray, DVM, BSc. (Ag)
Jody has been a veterinarian for over 23 years and has spent more than half of those at Heartland Veterinary Clinic. Heartland is her forever home! She loves finding new opportunities to strengthen the bond and lengthen the time that caregivers are able to share with their pets. Her passion for animal welfare runs very deep, and she loves every animal she meets as if they were her own. She has a special interest in cardiology and internal medicine, and she particularly enjoys managing heart disease patients or solving the puzzle of confusing blood work.
She recognizes that it can be extremely overwhelming when our pet falls ill. She believes it is essential that pet guardians receive medical explanations clearly and concisely - avoiding confusing medical terminology - so that you can feel fully informed and equipped with the information you need in order to make the best care decisions for your pet. She strives to break down medical complexities into plain English so that you fully understand every last detail.
Constrained finances do not stand in the way of her ability to provide you with a variety of compassionate care options to best suit the needs of your pet and you. Whether the pet’s budget is limitless or limited, she is always able to give you a number of options to accommodate your needs - with the comfort of your pet at the forefront of our decision-making.
She owns an extremely busy Elkhound mix named Brave, who is her trail running partner. Whether it is a remote backcountry alpine meadow filled with wild flowers or a mile-high mountain of limestone, Brave and Jody will run up it, down it, and across it from dawn til dusk, and sometimes she even throws on a headlamp and runs the mountain trails after dark. Jody also owns two senior cats: Eightball and Turbo, who remind her when it’s time to stop exercising and relax.
